New Unit Shipments Up in Q3/17
Hyster-Yale Materials Handling (H YMH) lift truck business earnings of $19.7 million
and revenues of $594.6 million in Q3/17 were down 10.0% and 0.5%, respectively,
from $21.9 million and $591.7 million in Q3/16. Consolidated worldwide new unit
shipments increased to approximately 22,000 units in Q3/17 from approximately
20,300 units in Q3/16.
According to Modern Materials Handling, the global forklift industry reached an all-
time high in 2016, with orders reaching 1.182 million, up 7% on a year-over-year basis.
Data from the Worldwide Industrial Truck Statistics organization show year-over-year
increases in global orders and world shipments of 7.5% and 8.3%, respectively.
The Q4/17 update of the Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation’s U.S. Economic
Outlook indicated materials handling equipment investment was likely to strengthen
over the next three to six months.
